FFA Advances to National Competition After Success at State Poultry Evaluation Event

The Union Academy FFA Chapter demonstrated skill and dedication at the 2025 FFA Poultry Evaluation State Career Development Event (CDE), with both the Senior and Junior Teams earning first place finishes. Competing in Raleigh, North Carolina, these students represented their school and chapter at the state-level competition.

The Union Academy FFA Chapter demonstrated skill and dedication at the 2025 FFA Poultry Evaluation State Career Development Event (CDE), with both the Senior and Junior Teams earning first place finishes. Competing in Raleigh, North Carolina, these students represented their school and chapter at the state-level competition.

During the event, students evaluated Past Production Hens and Market Broilers, delivered oral reasons, graded eggs based on exterior and interior qualities, assessed chicken carcasses, identified retail parts, and evaluated further-processed poultry products. The Senior Team also completed a written exam on Poultry Health Management and Embryology.

Senior Division: First Place Team – Advancing to the National FFA Poultry Evaluation CDE in Indianapolis.

Blake Carter – Sixth Place
Lacie Alexander – Thirtieth Place
Junior Division: First Place Team

Levi Carter – Eighth Place
Hannah Meyers – Twenty-Sixth Place
These students have dedicated significant time and effort to preparing for this competition. Their achievement reflects their commitment and the support they have received from their coaches and mentors.
The chapter recognizes Mr. Alexander and Kaleb Pope for coaching and guiding the teams, and Ms. Burleson for her continued support and dedication. The students look forward to representing North Carolina at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.
