Union Academy has been awarded the 2022-23 Jack C. Gaster, Jr. Excellence in Athletics award for the Yadkin Valley 1A/2A Conference. Athletic Director, Michelle Phifer, was presented with the trophy at the conference Athletic Director’s meeting on May 10th. 

This award is in honor of longtime Albemarle High School football coach, Jack C. Gaster, Jr. for his commitment to high school athletics.

The award is presented each year to a conference member school for outstanding performances during each of the three seasons. Points are awarded for all sports on the basis of each team's final rank within the conference and in state playoffs.
