Raleigh, NC - July 26-28, 2023 - Four Union Academy 4-H Agriculture Teams competed at the State 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl, Livestock Skillathon and Livestock Judging Competitions held in Raleigh, NC from July 26 - July 28, 2023. Three of the Union Academy teams were crowned state champions while three individuals were recognized as individual state champions. UA teams and individuals placed first overall in several categories in both the Intermediate and Senior Divisions. Below is a breakdown of the team and individual placings:

State Champion Intermediate Livestock Quiz Bowl Team (Middle School Division)

State Champion Intermediate Livestock Skillathon Team (Middle School Division)

The team placed 1st overall as well as 1st in Identification, Quality Assurance and Evaluation 

Intermediate Individual Livestock Skillathon Results:

Lacie Alexander 1st Place (High Scoring Individual Overall)

Colton Alexander 2nd Place (2nd High Scoring Individual Overall)

Maci Keeter 8th Place (8th High Scoring Individual Overall)

Intermediate Individual Livestock Judging Results:

Lacie Alexander 8th (8th High Scoring Individual Overall, 1st in Cattle, 5th in Goats, 8th in Reasons and 13 in Sheep)

Colton Alexander 21st Place overall - (7th in Swine, 11th in Reasons and 12th in Sheep)

Colton Alexander was recognized as the Overall Intermediate Livestock Champion (for all three contests)

State Champion Senior Livestock Skillathon Team (High School Division)

Members of the 1st place Senior Livestock Skillathon Team were Aubrey Mekus, Kaylee Keeter, Lindsay Van Art and Elizabeth Williams)
