The goal of School Health Services is to strengthen and facilitate the educational process through identification, intervention, and correction of health-related barriers of learning in students. The Health Room is staffed by Registered Nurses to assist with all student health needs. Union Academy will notify parents if a child becomes ill or has a significant injury at school.

Health and Wellness
It is our goal to initiate and implement Health and Wellness throughout the Union Academy community. Each year we will offer several events to promote this, including a Dental Clinic, Flu Shot Clinic, Mobile Mammogram Bus, Staff Wellness Week and several other programs within the school day.

Mrs. Paige Harriott
Paige Harriott graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Her nursing experience has included ICU/CCU, Open Heart Surgery, Neuro surgery, Med/Surg, and Nurse Management. Paige joined the staff of Union Academy as a school nurse in 2017. Paige and her husband, Bryan, have two children, Tyler and Travis, who both attended Union Academy.

Mrs. Maria Owens
Maria Owens earned her BSN from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1989. She has hospital nursing experience in NC and VA and has worked in med/surg, ICU, PACU and spent over a decade in the NICU. In 2017, Maria began her school nursing career at Union Academy's lower campus. In 2020, she obtained her National Certification in School Nursing. Maria has been married to her husband, Brad for 20 years and have three children, Eve, Elise, and Mason who all attend Union Academy.
