Doug Rowe Hired as Director of Bands for 2024-25 School Year
We are excited to announce that Doug Rowe has been hired as Director of Bands for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. Many students and families are familiar with Mr. Rowe as he has been the UA Instructor of Percussion for several years. Mr. Rowe will be replacing Steve Stevens who recently accepted the job as Executive Director of the UA Foundation.
We are excited to announce that Doug Rowe has been hired as Director of Bands for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. Many students and families are familiar with Mr. Rowe as he has been the UA Instructor of Percussion for several years. Mr. Rowe will be replacing Steve Stevens who recently accepted the job as Executive Director of the UA Foundation.
Mr. Rowe completed his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Wingate University and his Master's degree in Percussion Performance at UNC School of the Arts. He is currently a music teacher in Union County Public Schools and a Professor of Percussion at Catawba College.
Mr. Rowe is an active performer in many professional groups. He has served as principal percussionist of the Union Symphony Orchestra for the past 11 years and also serves as a substitute percussionist with the Rock Hill Symphony.
In addition to being a performer, he has served as an instructor, arranger, composer, and clinician throughout North Carolina. Mr. Rowe currently serves as District 6 President in the North Carolina Music Educators Association. He is a proud artist of Salyers Percussion sticks and mallets and member of the Black Swamp Percussion Educator Network.
Interim band teacher, Edwin Cerda de la Cruz will be in the classroom through the end of year.
