I have been at Union Academy since 2010 and currently teach high school business and act as the DECA Advisor. I love working with the next generation of business professionals. I hold a BS in Business Education from Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts and a MS in Counseling/Human Resources from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. I enjoyed a long career in human resources before my return to teaching. I am the proud mom of three UA graduates, and love the family atmosphere of our school and the focus on Character....Community... Challenge.

Union Academy DECA members are actively involved in competitive events, SBEs (Student Business Enterprises), DECA campaigns, community service, and club events.
Union Academy DECA will participate in an extensive body of work including the expansion of our SBEs (Student Business Enterprises), connection and service in our community, and challenge through competitive events this year.
To participate in DECA, you must be enrolled in a Business Marketing class in either first or second semester.
Union Academy DECA members participate in district and state-level competitions, and strive to reach nationals. All DECA members are highly encouraged to attend district level competition.
DECA+ is a self-study competition prep website filled with sample questions, role-plays, and tips and tricks to help students prepare for competitive success. Union Academy DECA has purchased access to this site for all registered DECA members. Please see the student DECA Canvas Page or Mrs. Kirk or Coach Hill for information on how to log in.
Competition prep meetings will be posted on DECA Canvas and Band App.
Competition Eligibility
Only active and engaged DECA members are eligible to attend competition trips. Actively engaged DECA members volunteer in student run businesses, chapter campaigns and attend DECA meetings. We encourage ALL engaged DECA members to join us a district competition.
Competition Dress Code
Please reference the Dress Code resource button above. You do not NEED to purchase these items new. Consider thrift stores and borrowing the items first. Think about your ROI on new suits and clothing before you purchase.

District Competition
District competition is used as a personal growth DECA dues must be paid through MYPaymentsPlus before 9/27/24 in order to be registered for districts. Date and location of districts will be released as soon as it is available to us.
State Competition
DECA state competition is available to actively engaged members who participated in the district-level competition and want to continue their competition journey.
State competition will be held at the Sheraton Four Seasons in Greensboro, NC February 27th - March 1st.
ICDC
Attendance at ICDC is by invitation only. ICDC 2025 will be held in Orlando, FL in April.
DECA Chapter Campaigns are a fun way to serve your community, earn DECA Diamonds, and meet or double Union Academy's community service hours. Campaigns are run by chapter officers and require a great deal of teamwork and effort.
