Ms. Adams - HS Science

About Ms. Adams:  I grew up in Albemarle, NC, and graduated from North Stanly High School.  After high school, I graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Science Education with a specialization in Biology.  I began my teaching career in Union County Public Schools at Piedmont High School in 1991.  Over the course of roughly 30 years in the classroom, I have taught biology, physical science, and chemistry.  During my tenure in the classroom, I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certificate in Early Adolescence Science in 2001 and continue to hold that certification.  I have enjoyed mentoring and numerous workshops that have taken me to NIEHS and NCCAT.

In addition to having my teaching certificate, I also have my CNA-I certification.  I use some of my spare time to help others maintain their independence at home.

I have been married to Tim, a retired English teacher turned Lowes employee, for 26 years.  We have two children:  Luke-21 who graduated two years ago from SPCC with a degree in Automotive Systems Technology, and Shelby-18 who is a Junior at UNC-C.

I am involved in my church and have been the pianist for nearly 20 years.  I also volunteer with Girl Scouts.  In my spare time, I enjoy time at the beach, more specifically Sullivan’s Island and Mount Pleasant, SC.  And when I can’t be there, you can find me knitting with a cat on my lap (I have 5!) and watching something on Netflix.

Class Supply List:  basics are 1" notebook, paper, pencils, black/blue pens, colored pencils/pens, highlighters, and whiteout. Occasionally you will need supplies for projects, but you will have plenty of time to get these together.

Communication:  To best effectively communicate with students and parents, I will post information in the "Announcements" in Canvas. I want to work with students and parents to provide the best education for my students.
