Welcome to 6th grade ELA! I am so excited to share my love for literature and writing with my students. I was actually a student here at Union Academy K-12. During my time here, I discovered my passion for literature, creative writing, and theater. I continued my education with Queens University of Charlotte, where I received my bachelor’s in English literature. I then attended UNC Charlotte where I received my master’s in literature and children’s literature. During my time in the master’s program, I taught a horror literature class for college freshmen-seniors. I also wrote and published the first half of a YA fantasy novel. My passion for my craft will hopefully be contagious and will carry over into your homes as your students are introduced to diverse texts. My classroom will be a safe space for all where we will talk about our personal attributes and experiences as they relate to the texts.
You can expect to find me with strong coffee in hand and a smile each day. When I’m not reading, I am binge-watching re-runs of my favorite series on Netflix. My current re-watch choice is "Downton Abbey." I have two adorable, noisy baby parakeets and a mug collection so large, I’ve run out of cabinets to put them all in. Thank you for sharing your children with me this year. I hope to create an inviting space where their learning needs will be met. Please reach out to me with any questions!
