I was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey with a B.S. in Physiology and a minor in Psychology. I have been teaching various grades and levels of science (as well as Physical Education and Psychology) since 2001 on both the west and east coasts. I also teach Anatomy & Physiology at South Piedmont Community College in the Paramedic program. I was a fellow in the Charlotte Teachers Institute for three years where I participated in various seminars working closely with amazing professors from Davidson College. Through this life-changing experience, I was able to design three unique curriculum units which have been published for the Yale National Initiative
. I have had the honor and immense pleasure of being at Union Academy since 2014 teaching AP Biology, Honors Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, and Forensic Science, hosting the Pinterest Club, coaching Girls on the Run, and helping out with anything that is asked of me. I currently serve as the Academic Support Coach for grades 5-12 math and science teachers. In addition to this coaching role, I still will be teaching AP Biology and Honors Anatomy & Physiology.
I have a very active and happy son (Jackson Storm) who is a current sixth grader at Union Academy, a cute little pug named Stella, a crazy boxer named Oakley, and a bearded dragon class pet, who hates me, named Hiccup. I love the beach and to travel around the world and can often be seen on many adventures with my son. To me, life is too short to sit still (unless I'm reading or sitting in the sun). Reading is one of my favorite pastimes as well as having a dance party while cleaning my house, snowboarding, kickboxing, and drinking coffee. I love to be outdoors (especially working in my garden, sitting by a bonfire, hiking in the woods, kayaking, running, or reading in a hammock or beach chair). Being a mommy, a teacher, and the best person I can be are what I was put on this Earth to do. I cannot imagine myself doing anything else.
