Ms. Adams - HS Science

About Ms. Adams:  I grew up in Albemarle, NC and graduated from North Stanly High School.  After high school, I graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Science Education with a specialization in Biology.  I began my teaching career in Union County Public Schools at Piedmont High School in 1991.  Over the course of roughly 30 years in the classroom, I have taught biology, physical science and chemistry.  During my tenure in the classroom, I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certificate in Early Adolescence Science in 2001 and continue to hold that certification.  I have enjoyed mentoring and numerous workshops that have taken me to NIEHS and NCCAT.

In addition to having my teaching certificate, I also have my CNA-I certification.  I use some of my spare time to help others maintain their independence at home.

I have been married to Tim, an English teacher, for 25 years.  We have two children:  Luke-20 who graduated two years ago from SPCC with a degree in Automotive Systems Technology, and Shelby-17 who is a Senior at Union County Early College.  She will graduate in May 2021 with a high school diploma and her Associate’s Degree in Art.

I am involved in my church and have been the pianist for nearly 20 years.  I also volunteer with Girl Scouts.  In my spare time, I enjoy time at the beach, more specifically Sullivan’s Island and Mount Pleasant, SC.  And when I can’t be there, you can find me knitting with a cat on my lap (I have 5!) and watching something on Netflix.

Communication:  To best effectively communicate with students and parents, I will post information in the "Announcements" in Canvas.  I have sent home a copy of the Remote Learning Schedule created by UA.  I have also listed a copy below.  Please be aware that attendance is important.  If you have any trouble with your computer, assignments, or something at home, please contact me so that we can work together to get through this time.  I want to work with students and parents to provide the best education for my students.
