UA will remain closed Friday, March 13 for students due to the ongoing county water boil advisory which affects so many of our families as well as our inability to provide catered lunch.

Coronavirus Update 2.28.20

As we are learning more about the coronavirus outbreak in China and subsequent positive cases in the United States, it is important to understand that as of this writing, we have no confirmed cases of coronavirus in North Carolina. This is a rapidly changing situation, and we are monitoring it closely through several healthcare resources including our state and local health departments, the Center for Disease Control, and other public health experts.

Ms. Dunleavy Earns Environmental Education Certificate

Monroe, NC - February 12, 2020 - Secretary Michael S. Regan of the NC Department of Environmental Quality and his assistant Kathleen Lance visited Union Academy to present 4th grade teacher Ms. Jamie Dunleavy with her Environmental Education Certificate. Secretary Regan presented the certificate to Ms. Dunleavy in front of her students and colleagues in UA’s new outdoor classroom.

Due to continuing road closures and flooding, UA is CLOSED today (2-7-20) for staff and students. ALL school activities are canceled. Monday (2/10) and Tuesday (2/11) are teacher workdays (no school for students).

Derek Young, Jr. Signs NLI with Wingate University

Monroe, NC - February 5, 2020 - Wide receiver, Derek Young, Jr. officially signed a National Letter of Intent and an athletic scholarship to play football at Wingate University. Young is a three sport varsity athlete (football, basketball, track) and triple jump state champion.
