Communications Director Jennifer Sutton Smith Earns NCSPRA Blue Ribbon Awards

February 5, 2021 - The North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) has honored Union Academy for excellence in communications. Communications Director Jennifer Sutton Smith earned a total of 11 Blue Ribbon Awards for outstanding and effective communication. NCSPRA presented the awards during a virtual ceremony on February 5, 2021.

AD Phifer Wins NCHSAA Lowe's Campus Captain Award

CHAPEL HILL, NC - February 5, 2021- Lowe’s Home Improvement, specifically the Lowe’s 4 Pros Division in conjunction with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), has selected Ben Hayes from Cherryville High School, Michelle Phifer of Union Academy, and Scott Wood from Elkin High School as the recipients of the Lowe’s Campus Captain award for January.

UA Named State School of Character

Monroe, NC (January 25, 2021) - Union Academy (UA) has been designated a 2021 State School of Character by Character.org a national advocate and leader for character. The announcement by Character.org noted that nationwide only 76 schools and 1 district were recognized and are now eligible to be considered as a National School of Character. UA is one of only two schools in North Carolina to receive the honor. The School also earned the State School of Character and National School of Character titles in 2016 which is a 5-year certification.
