Monroe, NC (January 25, 2021) - Union Academy (UA) has been designated a 2021 State School of Character by Character.org a national advocate and leader for character. The announcement by Character.org noted that nationwide only 76 schools and 1 district were recognized and are now eligible to be considered as a National School of Character. UA is one of only two schools in North Carolina to receive the honor. The School also earned the State School of Character and National School of Character titles in 2016 which is a 5-year certification.
UA will remain in remote instruction through January 29 and return to Plan B (hybrid) February 1-12. Click on "Read Full Story" to access the letter from Mr. Marshall.
The lottery for 2021-2022 opens Monday, January 11 and closes Monday, March 1. An information session will be held via Zoom on Monday, January 11 at 6 p.m. The link to access the Zoom is located on our Admissions page.
Families were emailed a letter regarding UA's decision to remain in remote learning through January 22, 2021. Families will be notified on Monday, January 18 about the decision for the week of January 25-29.
Due to increasing positive COVID cases in the county and across the state, UA has made the difficult decision to return to remote learning for all K-12 students January 4-15, 2021. Please see the letter from Mr. Marshall which was emailed to all families on December 31 for more details.

Monroe, NC - November 20, 2020 - Savanna Brooks became UA’s first official signee for the Class of 2021 when she signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball for Wingate University. The talented three sport varsity athlete verbally committed to Wingate her sophomore year, and even with a coaching change at the university, she remained committed to playing for the Bulldogs.
Monroe, NC - Friday, November 13, 2020. The Garden Club of Weddington presented Union Academy’s agriculture teacher, Michael Alexander, with a check for $500 to enhance horticulture education in the classroom. The garden club held several fundraisers in their efforts to contribute to qualifying agriculture programs.
