Together On One Campus!

First, after 18 years of planning, fundraising and wishing, our school’s dream is coming true:

All grades will be together on one campus
for this upcoming school year.

Thanks to our amazing construction team, who worked hard and took advantage of good weather, we are ending the project ahead of schedule. That means our Lower School teachers and students will start the school year on our new, unified campus.

“Together is one of my themes for this year. This will mean increased teamwork, sharing of skills and ideas across school levels, and improved collaboration.

I know this is a surprise for many of you, but don’t worry – you and your family will have a chance to see the new campus, meet your child’s teacher and check out our new classrooms and more. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase and pick up Car Rider tags, spiritwear, PE clothing and get help with our new volunteer-hour tracking app, MobileServe. Mark your calendars for open houses:

While this is incredibly exciting, we know coming together on one campus will also bring some early challenges as we figure out how things will work in our new location.

One of those challenges will be a NEW carpool design. Our new campus includes a new entrance and new roads to the new lower school building. We’re hoping dividing carpool into two sections will alleviate some of the backups we’ve faced in the past, but again, this is all new.

Here’s our preliminary plan:

Blue Carpool:
Grades K – 4
Uses the south/new UA entrance at the traffic light

Red Carpool:
Grades 5 – 12 *Grade 5 is an update from previous information sent by Mrs. McGinnis
Uses the north/”old” UA carpool entrance

*If you have several UA students in carpool, please use the carpool line assigned to the youngest student

General Information:

On the first day of school, high school student council members and UA staff will be in the carpool line to help new kindergarten through fourth-graders get out of cars and walk to their classrooms.

Drop-off is from 7-7:59 a.m. If you arrive at or after 8 a.m., your student is tardy and you will need to park and walk your child in.

CarRider Pro Tags:

Tags are valid for the entire time a child is a student at UA. Students who have their tag can continue using the same tag.
Students who are NEW TO UA or in grades K-3 will need a new tag.
Families who lost their tag will need to purchase a new one.
UA provides one tag to families at no charge; additional tags for second vehicles and replacement tags are $10 each
Families may purchase tags through the Business Office and pick them up at the UA front office after July 16 (Please note our summer hours: Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Campus will be closed on July 23 and 24 for staff training).

Morning Gathering Spots:

Each grade level has a designated morning gathering spot. There will be teachers on duty at 7 a.m. to watch the students. If you drop off your student after 7:50 a.m., s/he will report directly to his or her homeroom classroom. Students must be in the classroom to be considered “present.”

Grades K & 2

Lower School Cafeteria

Grade 1

Lower School Media Center

Grades 3-5

Current High School Gym

Grades 6-8

Current Middle School Gym

Grades 9-12

Older Student Driver:

If you have an older student driver you’d like to pick up your younger student, please send in a note or email your younger child’s teacher stating that s/he has permission to be picked up by that older sibling for the entire school year. The teacher will keep this note on file. If this changes, please let the teacher know.

Transportation Changes:

If you are changing transportation plans for a specific day, please notify Susan Houchins at the front desk AND your child’s teacher. After 2 p.m., we cannot make transportation changes.

If your child is riding home with another UA student, please write a note/email to your child’s teacher giving permission. Your student will need to go to the other child’s pick-up room, so they know when the pickup vehicle arrives. If this is a regular or permanent arrangement, make sure the person picking up your child has your car tag.

Signing Students Out Early:

If you have to sign your student out early and you know ahead of time, please send in a note or email your child’s teacher letting us know. Students must be signed out before 2:30 p.m. NO STUDENTS MAY BE SIGNED OUT AFTER 2:30 P.M.

We Want Your Input:

Again, this is all new, and while we are hopeful for a smooth carpool, we are always open to suggestions. If you have ideas to make carpool easier on all of us, please share them by Tuesday, July 10 at the link below. We’ll take all suggestions into account before releasing a final plan.

We are still waiting for plans regarding shuttles and whether we will offer shuttle service this school year. We will let you know as soon as we have final information.

Remember, we are all in this together. Be patient and give us time to work out issues.
