Find Your Passion and Run With It!
At 17, UA senior Kassie Zohn found her passion early and got a jump start on an exciting career in graphic design and photography- particularly working with professional wrestling teams.
Zohn received a certification in advertising and graphic design during her junior year through Union Academy’s partnership with SPCC. Almost immediately after finishing her class, she was asked to help design t-shirts for one of her wrestler friends.
“He took a chance on me, and I’m thankful he did” she said.
Zohn does graphic work regularly for three wrestling promotions - Viral Pro Wrestling in Georgia, Action Packed Wrestling in South Carolina and Premier Wrestling Xperience (PWX) in Charlotte, NC - and designs logos and t-shirts for several wrestlers, business owners and other promotions across the United States.
She started doing ringside photography for wrestling at the beginning of 2017 and takes photos for several promotions across the southeast on a regular basis. She also took photos for an annual Fan Fest called WrestleCade in Winston-Salem and participated in a behind-the-scenes photo shoot for the opening of PWX’s Hebron Hall in Charlotte.
After graduating this week, her plan is to attend SPCC and continue working in graphic design and photography. She hopes to expand her portfolio by working with new businesses like Highspots Superstore in Charlotte.
Zohn had some advice for rising seniors who are struggling to choosing a career path.
“Find something you love, and stick with it” Zohn said. “Spend your time doing something you really enjoy.”
Congratulations, Kassie, for such a successful start to your career. Union Academy is proud to have you as part of the family. You will be missed!
