Savanna Brooks Signs National Letter of Intent

Monroe, NC - November 20, 2020 - Savanna Brooks became UA’s first official signee for the Class of 2021 when she signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball for Wingate University. The talented three sport varsity athlete verbally committed to Wingate her sophomore year, and even with a coaching change at the university, she remained committed to playing for the Bulldogs.

UA Agriculture Presented $500 from Weddington Garden Club

Monroe, NC - Friday, November 13, 2020. The Garden Club of Weddington presented Union Academy’s agriculture teacher, Michael Alexander, with a check for $500 to enhance horticulture education in the classroom. The garden club held several fundraisers in their efforts to contribute to qualifying agriculture programs.

Union Academy Recognized as a Top Workplace

Monroe, NC, November 1, 2020. Union Academy has been recognized as a Top Workplace in the Charlotte Observer region for 2020, in the midsize category. This is the fourth time UA has been listed as one of the best places to work in the area (2016, 2018, 2019, 2020). Union Academy opened in 2000 and celebrated its 20th year of operation during the 2019-20 school year. The School currently has 229 employees serving more than 1,900 students in grades K-12.

Owens Passes National Nurse Certification Exam

Congratulations to Mrs. Maria Owens who recently passed her National School Nurse Certification exam! In addition to her BSN and RN credentials, Mrs. Owens will now add NCSN to the end of her signature. The NCSN is accredited through the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certifications and is a program to advance the quality of school health services. Thanks for continuing to learn to better serve our students, Mrs. Owens, BSN, RN, NCSN.

Intentional Parenting Practices Webinar

UA parents are invited to join us in our upcoming Intentional Parenting Practices webinar using Internal Family System techniques. This 4-part webinar led by Leslie H. Petruck from The Stone Group for Counseling and Leadership will focus on ways to improve communication with your children, gain confidence in your parenting, and learn how to address conflicts. The webinars begin Monday, October 12 from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. An email with the link to the Zoom meeting will go to all families each Sunday prior to the webinars.
