We are UA

History

Established in 2000, Union Academy is a National School of Character and is the first and longest operating charter school in Union County. The school is a tuition-free public school of choice that operates independently of the local school district. With more than 20 years of success, Union Academy is one of the largest mission-driven charter schools in North Carolina.

Union Academy believes excellent academic preparation for college and character development for life are not mutually exclusive. The School’s focus on Challenge, Character, and Community prepares students for college and a life of purpose and service.

UA enrolls approximately 2,000 students in grades K-12 who are accepted through a public lottery. With more than 1,500 applicants each year, UA continues to be one of the most sought after schools of choice in the area.
