Welcome to 4th Grade! 

I'm Mrs. Jani (pronounced yawn-ee) and this is my fourth year at Union Academy. I worked at Union Academy's Pre-K for two years before moving to 4th grade. I grew up in a small town in central Pennsylvania, moving to North Carolina in 2018. My husband, Tyler, and I live in Wingate with our two dogs: Timber and Copper. I enjoy hiking, kayaking, gardening, and just being outside! 

Though I've wanted to be a teacher since I was about seven years old, I decided to go to college to become a speech pathologist. After graduating, and spending two years nannying, I recognized I truly did want to become a teacher. I graduated from the University of North Carolina Charlotte in 2021 with my graduate certificate in teaching. I am currently working towards obtaining my Master's degree from UNCC.

My favorite part of teaching is getting to know the students personally, and seeing the 'Aha!' moments when the lightbulb comes on.
