Degrees and Certifications:
BS Science Education, Specialization in Biology National Board Certification CNA-I Certification
Ms. Tonya P. Adams
I grew up in Albemarle, NC, and graduated from North Stanly High School. After high school, I graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Science Education with a specialization in Biology. I began my teaching career in 1991. During my tenure in the classroom, I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certificate in Early Adolescence Science in 2001 and continue to hold that certificate.
In addition to having my teaching certificate, I also have my CNA-I certification. I use some of my spare time to help others maintain their independence at home.
I am married to Tim, a UA English teacher. We have two children-Luke and Shelby. While Luke has gained his heavenly wings, Shelby is a junior at UNC-C working on her degree and interning for UNC-C football.
In my spare time, I enjoy time at the beach, more specifically Sullivan’s Island, S.C. and Hilton Head, SC. And when I can’t be there, you can find me knitting with a cat on my lap and watching something on Netflix or listening to a podcast.
I am so thrilled to be at UA and to have your child in my classroom!
