Welcome to 4th Grade!

I am so excited to work with you and your child this year!  I am a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and I am certified in grades K-6 and Special Education.  This is my seventeenth year at Union Academy and 33rd year teaching. (I began teaching when I was 10.). I have a range of experience from kindergarten through fourth grade and also in the EC department.  This is my fifth year in fourth grade at Union Academy.

Our theme for the year will be:  "Adventure Awaits:  Enjoy the Journey!"  I look forward to watching students look for opportunities to help one another, to explore together, and  to enjoy our fourth grade journey.  My teaching philosophy includes creating a warm and inviting environment where students feel safe to take chances and strive to accomplish new goals.  I believe in providing a consistent and encouraging classroom where students are challenged to push themselves to reach their fullest potential.

My husband and I have three children and our youngest daughter, Jessie, graduated from UA four years ago. I look forward to partnering with you as we watch your child grow educationally, in character, and in community involvement.
