Ways of Giving
Since Union Academy opened its doors in 2000, our parents, trustees, faculty/staff, grandparents, corporations, and friends have generously donated their time and dollars to help prepare students to achieve, lead, and find fulfillment in a global community. Like all charter schools, we rely on annual contributions, volunteerism and other fundraising activities to support our programs.
Volunteers from the school community allow many programs to succeed. Financial investments help attract and retain the best teachers and provide a classroom experience second to none.

Tax Benefits: While tax savings are not generally the primary motivation for making a donation or a charitable contribution, it is potentially helpful to know about and understand the tax benefits associated with various giving options. Tax laws make certain types of gifts more advantageous than others, and we strongly encourage you to consult with your own financial advisors before finalizing a gift. Such counsel can help you make the largest possible gift to the Academy at the least possible expense.

Gifts of cash or securities are the highest priority of campaign because they can immediately be applied to meet the campaign objectives.
Cash / Credit Card gifts
Provide immediate support in a way that is tax advantageous. Use the online giving option or send your check, made out to Union Academy, to the following address:

Pledges
Enable you to make a more generous gift than you might have thought possible. Make your commitment now and spread payments over several years. Scheduling options are flexible and will be established in the Gift Agreement you devise with the school.
Gift of Securities
Appreciated securities, including stocks, bonds and mutual funds are an increasingly common way to make a significant gift. For the greatest tax advantages, it is usually best to transfer the stock to the school through a broker rather than selling it first and donation the proceeds. Securities can be outright gifts or payment on a pledge. Consult with Union Academy's Development Office before making a transfer.
Planned Gifts
A variety of planned giving options allow you to make a significant contribution to the Campaign while meeting your personal financial planning objectives and possibly reducing your estate tax liability. Contact the Development office for more information
Bequests
Are a form of planned giving. A bequest is a contribution made through a donor's will, trust, or retirement plan.
Gifts of Real Estate and Tangible Personal Property are possible and should be discussed with the Development Office.
Company Matching Gifts
More than 1,000 companies and organizations match the charitable gifts of their employees, retirees and directors, thereby often doubling your gift at no cost to you. Contact your company's human resources office to see if this option is available to you.
Combinations
Many donors choose more than one means of giving to realize their philanthropic goals. Contact the Development Office to discuss which options might be best for your.
Designations/ Naming Opportunities
Restricted gifts are designated by the donor toward one or more specific campaign objectives. The campaign offers a variety of opportunities to name a place or fund in honor of or in memory of a favorite teacher, classmate or family member.
