LUNCH

Union Academy does not currently have a traditional cafeteria.  The school provides catered lunch from a different vendor each day.  The menu is set up on an a la carte format, enabling you to order monthly on-line as much or as little as you need, and it will stay basically the same each week.  Some items are available on a daily basis, such as chips, drinks, and ice cream.  Only the chips, drinks, and ice cream can be purchased through the order form each month or on a cash basis during your child’s lunch period.

No refunds or credits will be given.  It is the responsibility of the parent to take into account field trips, holidays, special occasions, etc.  If a child is absent on a day that lunch has been ordered, it is the parents’ responsibility to have the lunch picked up.  No food will be kept after regular lunch hours.

Parents not ordering through the Catered Lunch Program will need to provide their child with a lunch.

Due to safety concerns, microwaves are not available

for student use on either campus.

Lunch periods are approximately 30 minutes each day.  Union Academy does not have a facility for a traditional cafeteria where students can purchase meals daily.  The students may purchase by ordering, in advance, catered lunches and milk.

Emergency Lunch Policy

In the event that a child misplaces his or her lunch or simply forgets to bring it to school, the following procedure has been implemented to provide your child with something to eat that day:

1.      If the student brings the issue to the attention of their teacher or an administrative person before their lunch hour, we will attempt to contact a parent or guardian.  We will ask you to make your own arrangements to provide a lunch for the child.

2.      If a student has cash available, that student may have the option of purchasing a hot lunch if extra quantities are on hand for that day.

At Union Academy, we will encourage and educate healthy lifestyles by:

·        Promoting nutritional snacks.

·        Promoting healthy lunch options/guidelines.

·        Promoting nutritional vending machines.

·        Promoting nutritional values throughout school functions and parties.

·        Recommending healthy snack and lunch – ideas and recipes

·        Offering fast food nutritional information

·        Outlining benefits of healthy eating and brain activity.

·        Notifying staff, parents and community of nutritional goals.
