Programs for Exceptional Children

Union Academy's Programs for Exceptional Children (EC) currently employs a number of highly qualified personnel. We have two teachers who work with children having mild learning disabilities or health impairments. Also at UA are two full-time and one part-time Speech Language Pathologists. Additionally, we employ a part time Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy Assistant. Physical Therapy, Audiology, and Psychological services are contracted with outside individuals. The EC Director, Vicky Glenn, coordinates the program.  If you have questions or concerns regarding the program, please contact Vicky at vglenn@unionacademy.org or 704-238-8883, ext. 107.

As of the April 1, 2006 periodic count, UA was serving 75 children with disabilities in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Union Academy has adopted and complies with the Procedures Governing Programs and Services for Children with Disabilities for the state of North Carolina, as these programs apply to the Inclusion Model and to the specific NC Charter for Union Academy.  The EC Director, Vicky Glenn, coordinates the program.  If you have questions or concerns regarding the program, please contact Vicky at vglenn@unionacademy.org or 704-238-8883, ext. 107.
